Support Motivation for McMaster's Transition into an MSU Service starting in the 2012
Dear Student,

Whether you've ever come in for, provided or or even simply just have heard about peer support, it is easy to understand that peer support is a fundamental need for students on campus who are tackling various concerns from stress, loneliness and depression to relationship/friendship concerns, struggles with adjustment in first year, and the overwhelming academic workload.

Motivation for McMaster (MFM) is a student run MSU club that provides roughly 25 hours of available peer support spanning from Monday to Friday, humbly outside of one of the Clubspace offices (MUSC 215H).

MFM has had great success in training over 25 peer supporters who genuinely care about our passion, and assist with any McMaster student who drops in to address their unique concerns, each and every school day. MFM also holds motivational lectures periodically bringing to campus accomplished professionals that deliver meaningful messages to the student who wishes to be further inspired.

If you too believe that a significant portion of the McMaster student population would benefit from and value the services we offer as a club, please help us out by following the link to https://www.msumcmaster.ca/myIdeas.htm, logging in with your MacID and, under categories click "MSU", then please like the "Support Motivation for McMaster's Transition into an MSU Service starting in the 2012-2013 Academic Year" idea!

All we ask is that we are better represented within the MSU, as an MSU recognized service so that we may be able to use any allocated service-level funding and resources to better promote MFM so that all students on campus can know of a place that addresses their unique concerns each and every school day at McMaster University.

As of today, there are currently no operating MSU services that strictly addresses student peer support in it's entirety, nor is there any any MSU service that addresses the provision of peer support with the emotional wellbeing of students as its ONLY focus. Motivation for McMaster wants to be that service starting in the 2012-2013 academic school year.
