Switching Programs
Hi everyone,
I'm currently in first year life sci, but I'm seriously considering switching to either kin or nursing. Unfortunately, my grades are not that great.. I really enjoyed kin, psych, and bio (which is why I would like to switch), and had the most success in them as a result, but my chem and math mark brought down my CA a lot. So, if my CA doesn't meet the minimum requirement to transfer, am I kinda stuck in life sci? Or does anyone know if there's anything I can do?
Thanks!

Your best bet is talking to an academic adviser.

There are many options for what to do in level 2, you are most certainly not limited to only life sci! Have you looked into the Biology - Physiology Specialization?

You can also apply to the programs again next year, just make sure you have a high GPA, because that's what my friend did.. Good luck! (:

Don't stress out, I was in the same position you are in when I was in first year! Chem brought me way down and still continues to be one of most challenging courses. I also wanted to switch to Kin in my first year. I sought advice from an academic advisor, did some research on what career I was really interested in, and ended up in Biochem lol. If it's your GPA you're worried about that may hinder you in getting into Kin or nursing, you can also shadow the programs next year and take general interest courses that will help your GPA . Good Luck!

To transfer to kin or nursing you will likely need a 9-10+ avg.

I would agree that it is best to talk to an academic advisor. I switched in my first year as well, so I kind of know what you must be going through vvndn. The academic advisor has so much information and they can probably find out an alternative route to get you where you want to go if your grades are not the best!

Hopefully it works out for you
