Switching Programs
I'm in first year engineering and I was wondering how to go about switching into Physical Sciences. I love all the classes that I'm currently taking but decided that engineering is not the type of job I want to pursue. If I'm going to switch into Physical Sciences next term, who will I need to talk to about it? And does anyone know if some of my current classes (CHEM 1E03, PHYSICS 1D03) will be considered equivalent to the CHEM 1A03 and PHYSICS 1B03 or will I have to retake those classes term 3?

go to an academic adviser and i am pretty cure chem 1e03 will count as 1a03 and same with physics. i know a few people who switched from engineering to science and they weren't behind in anything at all so i assume you will be ok.

It's none of my business to get into your personal choices/decisions, but do you know that kind of jobs are there for engineers? You said that "engineering is not the type of job i want to pursue", but how would you know that? Unless you had some sort of experience working in engineering, then you can't know for sure if engineering is the right career for you.
I wouldn't consider first year eng to be real "engineering", wait until you get into your upper years, then you will have an idea of what engineering really is (this could also be through coop/internships).

About switching over to another program, i would just go to the faculty/department and ask them, they should be able to help you out.
This is irrelevant, but I noticed that you went to stm, in that case, you should be prepared for first year Stm is a pretty tough school, most people who come from stm do well in engineering. I am not saying stm is the best school on the mountain, or that people who come from there are naturally smart. I just feel that stm prepares you well for first year university.

Good luck with your studies Engineering is a great program! Remember to think really hard before switching to another program.

you havnt done "engineering" yet. You have done science. Math, Physics, Chem, even materials -> these are all science courses. Engineering is the application of science and you dont have the knowledge yet so you arent really doing any engineering yet. Only programming and 1c03 and 1p03 are engineering courses, and they are very introductory.

**also look at the term "anti requisite" in the course calendar at your eng courses. these will tell you the equivalent courses.

They will def count chem 1e03 towards 1a03. Phy 1d03 i think is 1B03 but if you want to major for instances in physics they might make you do it again. your math will also count toward i think math 1a03
