In the long run, Im thinking of becoming a palaeontologist.

You can switch as long as you have to prerequisites for that course but it is possible to graduate without taking an extra year if you've already been taking courses for that degree previously. My boyfriend switched from humanities to biology and now to math and will still graduate on time without taking an extra year. Just take summer school and you may be able to graduate on time!
