Taxi to GO Centre
How much does it (on average) to take a taxi to the GO centre?

Also, im new to this whole taxi thing, so how do I call a taxi and where in McMaster would I find/meet them? (because I doubt they're willing to drive all around campus for you).

It typically costs a little under $10. The blue taxis in Hamilton now take Credit / Debit cards so you don't have to worry about brining cash. There are two main companies in Hamilton: Blue line taxi and Hamilton Cab. You just call their number and tell them your pickup location and they'll send a cab. They will come and pick you up outside residence, but you'll be paying for a longer drive (probably an extra $2 or so). The cheapest spot to get picked up is likely on Main St just across from the hospital. Lots of cabs also pickup at the hospital roundabout.

Blue's number is: 905-525-0000
Hamilton Cab's number is: 905-777-7777

Note: if you're trying to catch the go bus to Toronto, it also picks up at King St and Dundurn as well as King and Queen, so you don't have to go the Go centre if that's what you're trying to do.

Some of the HSR buses also go directly to the Go centre, so you may not even need a cab, depending on when you're trying to get there.

How long is it by taxi vs how long it is by HSR?

Thanks so much for the info btw, really helpful.

(btw, I am trying to get to St. Catharines)

Taxi: < 10 minutes.
HSR: 20-25 minutes + waiting time at bus stop. If you're willing to walk ~250 m, you can take a b-line express and get there in under 20.

Here's a google transit link showing the route, you can change the time/day to get the schedule for when you need it:

I'm also trying to get to St. Catharines on Saturday. Do you know which bus you're going to end up taking?

I heard the 51 West takes you straight to the Go Centre. I don't know where to found that bus though at McMaster. I've seen the 51 bus before but it never says east or west.

Someone can help maybe?

The east / west just describes which way the bus is going. You actually want to catch a 51 going east to get to the go station. The 51 east bound picks up on the main campus road on the side that has the life sciences building, mdcl etc. It comes every half hour on Saturday, but only for part of the day. It does not run on Sunday. If the times of the 51 don't work out for you, there are plenty of route #5 buses running down main street all day on Saturday and Sunday, you'll just have to find one of those that works.

The schedule for the 51 is here:

if you need to check bus times or bus numbers and such just go to google maps. Put in where you're leaving from, your destination and hit get directions. Then hit the button with the bus picture on it and it'll show you timings and bus number and everything. Beauty of google.
