Teachers College Requirements
Hello,

I plan on going into law school, however, teachers college is my second plan. Saying that, I was wondering if anybody knows if whether or not you require a minor. I am going into a Combined Honours English & History program, so say I do want to go to teachers college, would I still require a minor WITH my combined honours? I'm just wondering because obtaining a minor with a combined honours seems quite difficult considering that you would virtually have little room for electives to boost up your average. If I do minor, however, I plan to do so in Art History or Religious Studies.

Cheers.

Two teachable subjects like English and History should give you lots of options. Unfortunately Religious Studies doesn't get you very far, except in the Catholic system, and then their focus is different from what you are likely to get at McMaster.

Thank you, but what I am asking is do I need a minor even though I am doing a Combined Honours? Or is a minor only required if you are doing a single major?

The best person to give you an accurate response would be to look at the websites of the schools you're considering and see what they consider is sufficient. Giving them a call or email them may be a good idea as well.

You need to teachable subjects for high school. Generally for most schools for your first teachable you should have 10 courses, for your second teachable you should have 6 courses. You do not need any minors.

Every teacher's college has different requirements for admission. So think about the schools you'd like to go to and then check the requirements for each on their admissions pages.
