Teaching ESL in Korea
Hey everyone, I'm a recent mac grad (wohoo!) and I've been considering teaching ESL in Korea next year. I've been doing a tonne of research about it and I'm just wondering if anyone has done it/knows someone who's done it? What was the experience like? Did they have any teaching background before hand? Did they go alone or with someone they knew?

Let me know!

If you have never heard of simon and martina, they used to be teachers in Korea (I think one of them still might be teaching). They have some early videos on teaching and other korean like things. Their more recent videos are more about music, food, and places in korea (which is also probably something your interested in).

My friend was telling me. His uncle works for a professional company that does this. You just needa write like a basic test to get a license and they will find u a job and apartment with salary etc, you just need to pay for plane ticket. Forgot the name of this but it's internationally recognized company for teaching esl globally

TESL or TEFL or TESOL
Hey! You want to complete a certified and reputable course either online or in classroom that will grant you a TESL/TEFL/TESOL certificate. If you think teaching is something you want to do as a serious and long-term job in the future, I suggest you invest around $2000 to take an in-classroom course. If you are wanting to do it for the summer or only for the experience, investing $500 to take an online course is good enough. Some countries do not accept online certification though. Not sure if Korea does, but I know China does- and china being the country hiring most ESL teachers, I say online courses are a good investment.

Actually right now on TeamBuy they are featuring a great deal that you might want to check out: teambuy.ca/toronto/28136731 (sorry i can't post links apparently...haven't posted more than 5 posts yet!)

Hope that helps!
