Team Canada 2010
Talk about Canada's men's and women's hockey team for the Vancouver Olympics!
With the 2010 Canadian Olympic men's hockey team to be announced in 9 days, and with the constant speculation on possible rosters that is being done, I thought it would be nice to group them all together to compare.
Who would play for Canada if you were picking the Olympic team?
MY CHOICES FOR TEAM CANADA'S FINAL ROSTER
Forwards
Nash - Crosby - Iginla
Marleau - Thornton - Heatley
Perry - Getzlaf - St. Louis
Morrow - Richards - Doan
Stamkos
Defence
Keith - Weber
Pronger - Niedermayer
Boyle - Bouwmeester
Green
Goalies
Brodeur
Luongo
Fluery
Love my picks? Hate 'em? Think you can do better? Post your own selections for the team that will try to recapture the gold medal for Canada on home ice in 2010.
Go Canada Go!

Does no one care about the women's team?
I'm excited to see them in action again. Both teams, but we don't get to see our great female players on a regular basis like with the NHL.

Good to see a thread entitled Team Canada 2010 only encompasses 1 segment of Team Canada, and only 1 gender.
If anyone actually does care their roster was already announced:

Here's to Team Canada (the whole team) ownage come the new year.

Ease up.
There's a reason why you only ever get to see them at the olympics, and that is because no one cares enough to watch them regularly. They've tried televising games on TSN, but no one watches them. It's not cuz it's women, it because it's like watching a peewee game. No contact, slower pace, and much less organized. Makes for a much less exciting game.

I didn't ask anyone to care to watch their games regularly but the women's team is in the Olympics and they're great too.
Mostly its just that the thread is titled Team Canada 2010 and it only discusses the men's hockey team. I thought it might be a good place to discuss and support all of our athletes in a wider variety of sports, not just the men's hockey team.
OP I'm not mad at you or anything, I'm just pumped for the Olympics and I like the women's team and other sports along with the men's hockey team.

I agree. If Team Canada goes by performance, not reputation, Dustin Penner is a lock for the Olympics.

Yes, and let's not forget the women's team won Gold in 06 and the men didn't even get a medal.
What do you guys think, can we do double golds again like 02?
How sweet would double Gold in hockey be on home soil?

In men's hockey, there are the traditional "top six" teams (Canada, United States, Russia, Sweden, Finland, and Czech Republic) that will battle for the gold medal, and any of these can be in the top three in any order (you can also possibly throw Slovakia in there as well). Women's hockey is a two-team race between Canada and the United States. So it's not that we don't care, it's just that there isn't enough competition to keep most people interested prior to the gold medal game.
