I am an international student who will be starting Graduate studies at Mac in Sept. I will be moving to Hamilton in the first week of August and was hoping that anyone would be able to give advice on where I could stay for that month, while looking for accommodation.

Looking for Single or Double occupancy places with affordable rent for Aug month.

Some people sign 12 month leases that they don't actually use.

Check the marketplace at the site or maybe mcmaster's off campus site. Some people might be subletting their rooms during the summer

You could live in res. Mary Keyes and Les Prince are open in the summer.

Res might still be a little more expensive. I would also suggest looking at Martketplace for some cheap sublet places You might even find a place to stay for next year!
