Learn to do it on the web, or take it into one of those 'cellphone' stores; I'm sure you've seen them before. I can't think of a store closer than around king&caroline, jackson sq, or eastgate, but I'm sure there is one... They're all over the place at major malls (mapleview, square one, and so forth).
Try searching in the post history of this site, I believe this question has been asked numerous times. Or google 'cell phone unlocking hamilton'.
It's usually not a good idea to buy a phone locked to a different provider... unlocking can range from 30-80$ depending whereyou go and isn't always worth cheaping out on sites like kijiji/craigslist
