just to confirm,
Im going into first year life science this September
so my date to pick courses is on June 28th according to this right??

I agree. It is not worth the headache. if you try to get in right away the system will kick you out and it is just frusterating. All the electives I have tried for i actually got into a few days after the thing opened for me. If you are really concerned send the prof a message- especially before if is your turn to choose. This shows that you are genuinely interested in the course and profs will be more receptive to trying to help you later if it becomes a problem.
