Tuition Payment Question
Hi, I was just wondering if it's ok to drop off my tuition on the day that I move in which will be August 30th. If so where do I go to drop off the check? Thanks in advance.

Hey I found this on the Student Accounts and Cashiers website:
http://www.mcmaster.ca/bms/student/S..._ funding.htm

You can send payment through regular mail or drop it off in person to:

Student Accounts and Cashiers Office
McMaster University Gilmour Hall Room 209
1280 Main Street West Hamilton, Ontario L8S 4L8

• Payments should be made payable to “McMaster University”
• Ensure that your Name and Student ID are included.

Here is some more contact info just in case : )

I'm not sure exactly, but I remember seeing in another post that it took about a week or something for someone.

By the way, the changes should happen on your account statement, and not your payment agreement. If your money has gone through and been updated on your statement, you should get a negative sign on your final balance.

Hi. So you mean I can just drop off the cheque on my move-in day which is on the 30th ? Will the office be open ? If not open on Saturdays, then will it be open on September 1st which is a holiday ? If it's close on sept 1st, is it too late to mail it tomorrow ?

Thanks !

they are only open Monday to Friday from 11am to 4pm. I'm pretty sure it's closed during holidays. You should probably call to ask if there will be a late fee charged if you drop the cheque off over the weekend: [email protected] ster.ca

In the way of handing in cheques: since the office is only open monday to friday... what is the fee for late tuition? I mean... might as well compare the fee to overnight mailing.

For some reason, my RESP is comming in late, so when is the absolute last date that I can pay before they kick me off campus?

I don't mind paying the $35.

More quoting! Hurray.

We also have an after-hours drop box located outside our office, Gilmour Hall, Room 209 for your convenience.

• Payment is due at the Student Accounts & Cashiers office no later than by September 1, 2008. If the payment is submitted earlier, it can be post-dated no later than September 1, 2008. If this deadline is not met, a $35.00 Payment Agreement Default Fee will be assessed to your Student Account

I hope this means that if you hand it in on your move in day or even Monday, you guys can still get it in on time. But payment has to be in by Sept 1. Although I do agree it's kind of silly that the deadline is on a holiday -_-.

But when is the last last day to pay?

The day where, if you don't pay by then, they send hitmen after you.

So let's say I drop it in this drop box...

And like print the date on something...

And let's say they don't care...willl they tell me I owe $35 or will that just be charged to my account and then my parents can pay it

I payed my tuition two days ago via the online banking money transfer method---how long will it take for that to show up on my account statement?

If I payed it two days ago but it doesn't go through until after September 1st, does that mean it was a late payment and they will kick me out of my courses?

Thanks

RenoV:

Theoretically, they will never really chase you down until you graduate...If by the end of the school term you have paid nothing, then your account will start being slowed down and you won't be allowed to view your grades and future year registrations will be delayed...it won't be pretty. AND by then, you would have A LOT of interest accumulated on your account. After Sept 30, interest is charged at an annual rate of 14.4% (1.2% per month, at the end of each month).

Just try to pay ASAP : ).

__lexington:

I'm pretty sure it will be charged to your student account, and it will be your responsibility to pay it, whether it's you or your parents...as long as Mac gets the money missing!

tamzmullett:

Mac will get it. Even if they don't actually receive it before Sept 1st, I think your transaction will be shown as having been processed Sept 1st, so don't worry. As long as you do the transaction on or before Sept 1st, you won't get charged extra.

I checked just now, and account statements won't be fully updated until Sept 16 (it includes stuff like tuition, res fees, meal plans), although it could take as little as 3 days just for it to show that you have paid something.
