No, they don't check it (at least not once in the dozen plus times I've taken it).

I've brought a golf set, 2 suitcases, and a TNA bag jampacked with shit in it before (with illegal things, not just pusscohol ) and never had anybody say I can't bring stuff/I have too much stuff. They have bottom compartment things on the bottom/outside of the bus for luggage/big things and an overheard compartment for carry on stuff, but I just normally throw it all at the bottom. Scared of someone stealing your shit? Sit at the front.
