TEXTBOOKS
Buying textbooks is something you should hold off on doing unless you're buying USED textbooks for required courses. For electives, wait until the first class to see if you like the course or not. Read all the textbook buying tips here.
Go here to get your textbook list printed off so you know what to get for each class. The Fall course materials list will be posted Wednesday August 15th at noon.
Use the MacInsiders Marketplace: Courseware section to find used books and you can contact MacInsiders users directly to negotiate a price and location to meet on campus to exchange. Also, you can buy used textbooks at the Campus Store[/url] on campus.
GETTING YOUR TUITION PAYMENT READY FOR SEPT 1:
First payment for Tuition is due SEPTEMBER 1ST. You can't miss this deadline!!! Have payment ready through one of the accepted methods that McMaster accepts. Paying directly from your bank account is easiest.
NOTE: As of 2016, Cash / Cheques no longer accepted as payment method. You can't pay via cheque! Click the link above to see the accepted payment methods.
IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES
Make sure to write these down! Print them off and put them in your calendar.
First Year Students will move in on either Saturday, August 25 or Sunday, August 26, depending on your building assignment. Specific move-in times will be released in August and will depend on which floor of your building you are moving into. Student Staff will be informed of their move-in dates and times individually.
Students who cannot move in on their posted move-in date may apply to request permission for late arrival after Tuesday, August 28th 12 midnight. Students must complete the “Request for Late Arrival” section under the “Arrival Request Information” step on the Residence Portal prior to August 20th by 4 pm to apply for permission for late arrival. To access the application for late arrival, log-in to the Residence Portal and proceed to the “Arrival Request Information” step.
Ready to move into an off-campus house with friends, or new 'house mates' you don't know very well? Check out our off-campus housing series to learn tips on how to deal with stressful housing situations and move-in.
The MacPass is your “all-access pass” to the events and programs taking place during Welcome Week (i.e. concerts, faculty events, MacAdemics). This is a mandatory University Orientation Fee paid by all first-time, first year.
Plan which events you want to go to. Some events overlap so you can only go to one. Pick which you are going to and plan them out with friends.
Travel down to McMaster for free using your student PRESTO card.
A student will only be issued one MSU/HSR U-Pass PRESTO card. This card will remain the student bus pass throughout university. In August, a voucher code will appear in MOSAIC, which will be used by a student to upload the next year's bus pass. The 2017-2018 pass remains valid through August 2018 for all HSR travel.
