Value Village in Hamilton
So a few people have told me to check out the thrift shops for some cheap furniture.

I'm moving in on Wednesday but I have the option of either shopping at the Value Village in Whitby or Hamilton.

How big is the one in Hamilton? And is there a lot of selection in terms of furniture?

Are there any other good cheap thrift furniture stores in Hamilton?

The shop is fairly big.

I didn't buy furniture there. I'd say that Hamilton would have more stuff simply because there are more people, but I haven't actually been to the Whitby store.

Yea, I haven't been to either and I also assumed that the Hamilton one would be bigger. I just don't wanna make two shopping trips. Bleh, shopping. D:<

I've only ever been to 2 Value Villages. 1 in Toronto when I lived there, and the one in Peterborough when it opened. The Peterborough one is actually bigger. So you never can tell.

Also....what do you need?

I'm throwing a bunch of stuff out when I move on Thursday. And by a bunch, I mean 60% of what i own.

The one in Hamilton is pretty big. There's also a good one in Burlington that's not too far. I've never looked for furniture at either one, but I've made some good clothing/costume finds

I'm looking for a computer desk, a dresser with a mirror attached to it, or a dresser/armoire and a full length mirror.

I also don't have a closet so some type of rack would be good.

Maybe some night stands too. And maybe a small bookshelf.

Eheh. Thanks. XD

I can't wait to paint my stuff sick colours. XD Probably gonna sponge paint it, or just like dip a paint brush into paint and like, whip it at the furniture.

Kinda sad that that's gonna be the highlight of my week. XD

Hamilton shops
There are lots of thrift/consignment shops in Hamilton - and Value Village really isn't very good for furniture. You might get lucky, but it's really hit and miss as to what's there. 90% of the store is clothing. One good place specifically for furniture is Mr. Macs on Ottawa Street. The downtown Goodwill Amity used to be a good place for that too, but I'm not sure if it exists anymore as they had some issues that closed a bunch of the stores down. They still have a store on Upper James though. I highly recommend doing a websearch for used furniture in Hamilton and see some of the stores that pop up as there are too many for me to describe them all.

daisy, lawleypop all say thanks to soltintal for this post.
