Vertical Forum Post Display

Changes 2008: #2 - Vertical Forum Post Display

Some users may have noticed a change in the way that forum posts are now displayed. For users who regular post on forums the layout of forum postings is usually where information about the user who posted the message is displayed on the left and the message is on the right. This layout makes it easier to follow the discussion since the flow of text isn't interrupted by the user info bar at the top of the post.

The default for the MacInsiders forum has thus been changed to the vertical 'legacy' display as seen on the left (see image above) so you should be able to find it easier to read posts and follow discussion. User information on who posted can now be found to the left instead of above the post text.

If you wish to change this option back to the way it was, or if you originally changed your options and want to change them to the vertical one, you can do so by going to your 'edit profile' settings and scrolling to the bottom where you'll see the 'Forum Post Display' option. There, you can choose whether to have the user's information at the "Top above the post text" or "Left beside the post text". Feel free to change back to the original, or to the new vertical default depending on your preference.

Thanks!

I like it more as well, Chad. I find it looks better for articles and announcements and the like.
