The death of Merle was the death that stuck out to me in this season. He was able to go from villain to redeemed hero in one episode. Norman Reedus also did a great job at getting into the scene when he found Merle.

I actually preferred this season over the last one, even though the finale was a little underwhelming.

Any idea wat its gonna be like once it resumes?

I feel its gonna be fast forwarded a couple years with Ricks as an erratic teen soldier, making him the focus, exploring his character

You just lost all cred as a fan when you confused Rick and Carl. There wont be any time jump that significant as they already have a storyline to explore with Carl losing grips with his humanity. The next season is going to have the walkers being brought back to the forefront as being a legitimate threat. The governor is on as a season regular again so he will definitely be around. But probably not attacking the prison right away.

Anyone else agree with me that this show is overrated? Great action series and special effects, but the general plot line/ character development is pure crap.

I'd have to agree. I find it really hard to find any reason why I should care about any of the characters. I'll probably watch next season, but only if nothing else is on...

It's not that insightful/profound when it comes to apocalypse or zombie scenarios, but keep in mind it was a really rad idea to adapt it from the comics, then it had to be palatable to millions of viewers. Whenever you cater a series to a particular audience when it was originally designed for another, you're gonna have a shitty time. The comics themselves are really diverse and action oriented, while slowly feeding you character development in every few panels -- the unfortunate thing about serial dramas is you have 42 minutes to indroduce the episode, get all the elements in, then get the hell out of the episode. Comics typically have an assumed knowledge and can come in quite suddenly because the content will be digested over a longer period of time, and you can go back and read the script repeatedly and take in all the visuals, where the same stuff must be seen as-it-happens for TV.

tldr: a brilliant comic for one audience, forceably cateredto the millions of american zombies/mainstream
