Webpage safety ratings?
Hey guys, so recently I noticed that the "Safety Ratings" of AVG disappeared and the only way to bring them back (according to AVG) is to "Set AVG Secure Search as your search provider"...i did that yesterday and nothing happened..i still can't use the safety ratings :/

Does anyone know how I can bring the safety rating feature back ? I feel like being tricked by AVG lol

Any help is appreciated

Why would you use avg as a search feature... The built in safety from Firefox is enough. Everything else can be protected with commonsense and adblock plus.

I don't even like the avg search feature...i just added it because avg was telling me that to get the "safety ratings" back I need to set the secure search as my search provider...i hate using the search feature, I just like the safety ratings..
I am kinda used to chrome now and don't want to change browsers :/

Hey Steif, right beside the links in Google search you should see like a small 'U' shape thingee that is green..recently I noticed that its not green anymore..every time I hover my mouse over it it says:
"Where are the webpage safety ratings?
Safety ratings are now part of AVG Secure Search service.
To re-activate them:
Set AVG Secure Search as your search provider"

I did set avg secure search as my search provider, but the safety ratings still don't work for me :/

What do the safety ratings even do? I'm pretty sure chrome has a built in thing to protect you from suspicious sites.

When you search for websites in google, right beside each link there's like a 'U' shape icon that tells you the safety ratings of that site: Safe, Dangerous, Safe for the last 30 days...Unfortunately, this feature has been removed/blocked and now I can't see the ratings, it's still visible but useless, since I can't see the ratings.

Basically they are just being dinks and rerouting all google traffic through their new search engines

http://search.avg.com/

All companies do this now, like how IE default search engine is Bing. Bascially they are pushing you to use their search engine if you want those ratings to steal Ad money from competitors. Up to you if you actually do.

If you do want it as your default in chrome

Go to settings -> Manage search engines -> at bottom you can add your own link

Use Mcafee site advisor, chrome/firefox, adblock, maybe wot, and malwarebytes antimalware (has a security system with it for free).

Pretty much I can go wherever I please

I used it for a while and works pretty well, but to be honest I usually don't surf to unknown websites but I can't remember my original reason for uninstalling it
