Welcome Week
Hello, I was just wondering when welcome week would be taking place. Is it the few days after move-in (September 6th or so) or during the week classes start. Might be a stupid question, but I'm asking it ANYWAYS?!

It's starts the day you move in to the Friday or Sunday I believe. Classes start on the Thursday.

What can we expect during Welcome Week? For instance, is there any upper-year students willing to share their WW highlights? I've already taken a look at the events that are going to be taking place, but I still can't quite visualize it . Thanks!, Ryan

Prepare to be woken up via loud noises and knocking by your welcome week reps.

Oh, and prepare to meet people that you likely won't remember or meet again

And depending on your res, have fun sleeping without AC.

Then enjoy the charity casino, where you will win a shitload of chips in blackjack, then lose all but 2 because you got greedy. :(

(Then again, I'm not a very social person so my Welcome week experiences may seem biased)

Well, if you know the various events you roughly know what's going to be happening. Take your closest visualization of the events, and then add a lot of upper years in jumpsuits trying to get people pumped, lots of cheering, and lots of tiredness.

Basically its as good as you make it. I skipped most of the events in favor of sleep, and wasn't exactly enthusiastic for most of it. So it wasn't anything special for me. However, after getting involved as a Welcome Week rep and seeing how awesome I could have made it, I really regretted my decisions.

Even if you're not normally the type of person who's into things like cheering and screaming, or meeting new people, do it! You'll have a much better time!

They usually don't announce the bands until a week or two before welcome week starts.

Hm, I'm still deciding if I should go to welcome week XD. I guess I should just stay, so my parents don't have to drive me back in again.

you should go, its definitely something very different from what you'll experience in highschool.

definitely go to welcome week... and class usually starts on the thursday or something, so events calm down around the day time and pick back up after most classes are over.

the first couple weeks there arent any labs or tutorials, only lectures, so you wont have much class anyways.

Expect awesomeness. Every morning you shall be waken up by loud noises. Most of the week you'll be led around by crazy welcome week reps (upper years) along with your residence. You'll have a faculty day where you'll be with students from your faculty doing fun stuff (sorta like play day from elementary school). Clubsfest where you'll see all the different school clubs. And crazy nights at the campus nightclubs and some house parties if you're lucky. Whatever you do, go to welcome week!
