Well, you don't need to go to all the events if you need to be home by a certain time, but I know other first years who did the same thing and still had a blast.
The concerts are the biggest night events, so if you like the bands (and even if you don't) you'll probably want to stay for that. The first day (if you're in SOCS) also usually has Karaoke at night, which is always a blast. Charity casino is at night, which is really fun if you like those types of games. There are also various events like movies, comedians, a hypnotist etc that occur at night. I don't remember exactly when most of these events end, but I don't think it would be much later than 10 or 11.
I think the bigger problem you might encounter though is working up the motivation to come to some of the earlier events like Olympics or Shinerama fundraising. I decided to sleep through them, and I was about a 10 minute walk away =/ Its definitely worth the drive though!

To the welcome week reps: Are there many second degree students participating in welcome week. I am starting my second degree and I have already bought a MacPass and I am excited to meet people young or old, but I was curious if I will be considered a grandma at the age of 24.

Thanks! Like I said I don't care what the age of the people I meet there is, but its always nice for a couple of people to be in a similar situation as myself. I am very excited about it!

Second degree ftw! I participated in WW during mine, but I was a rep. I didn't change schools/faculties...so...I didn't see the point.
And I'd argue being a rep is a much more amazing experience. Which is not to devalue WW at all, but it's way more fun being a rep...even though you get waaaay less sleep.

I can see how being a rep would be a lot of fun. I am coming from another university, so I don't think being a rep would have been an option for me. Plus, I will be needing to learn about McMaster jsut like everyone else. The university experience, in terms of knowing how to study and everything else that come along with it, I know plenty about.

You will have residence planned events.
There should be a schedule coming out soon, keep your eyes out.
