Finger Eleven's been there quite a bit, and I wouldn't mind them. They came out with some new material but it was always their old stuff that was the best.
I wouldn't mind seeing:
- Rush
- Protest the Hero
- Billy Talent
- Barenaked Ladies
- Great Big Sea (fat chance)
- Kim Mitchell
I'd say Default too because they're not bad in studio, but live... I don't even wanna think about it. D:

Just saw her at Lilith though and she was amazing.
Will be interested to hear what bands are playing though.

Not Lights?
Othnkgod.
I wanna hear some rock n' roll at Frosh Week, that's what'll get me pumped.

We hear "rock n' roll" every year at Frosh Week so it'd be nice to have a change for once.

Judging by The Flatliners' touring schedule with Against Me!...it's not The Flatliners :(

K-os played in my first year, and for some reason I think in my second year as well.
Remember, the bands that play (the headliners for sure, the other ones not as much) have to be Canadian. There are very, very few good rap/R&P/hip hop artists/groups that are Canadian.

You've never heard of Rush? Wow...
(Don't take this as some sort of pro-Rush bit, I don't like them much. In fact, I saw them live at the Quebec City summer festival because it came free with the pass, and I left a few minutes in to check out a Tuvan jazz-fusion group )

The string quartet wasn't around until the early/mid classical period, Scarlatti's stuff for a "quartet" wasn't really chamber music (or meant to be), it was just strings without basso continuo.
That said, it'd be great if a string quartet performed. I'd actually go to the concert, unlike last year...

That and I didn't even mean specifically Rap/R&B/Hip-Hop. I didn't realize Rock and Rap were the only genres in existence.
There are a ton of Canadian artists out there, indie ones in particular who Universities will be able to get that fit into a wide variety of genres but the Welcome Week bands generally tend to fall into just a few genres.
I guess that's whats popular though so I can't exactly put lots of fault on them for booking acts they think will draw a big crowd. It would just be nice to see other genres showcased.

Who are some of your favourite groups and artists that aren't of the typical genres you're referring to?
