What's wrong with McMaster?
I always hear people nagging about things that are bad about our school that aren't even proper issues (e.g only shoveling half the stairs, mcmaster lakes, centro food, how much Hamilton sucks). The only thing bad about our school is course selection/mugsi/solar that I can think of. Anyone got anything else that is bad about our school or is Mac just the opposite of Queen's (in terms of unwarranted complaining rather than unwarranted pride)?
Negatives:
1. MUGI/Solar
2. hard to get into good electives (thanks Ownaginatios)
3. can't get MacConnect everywhere on campus
4. lack of late night eating options *under review
Positives:
1. DBAC is amazing
2. our class sizes aren't too large
3. theres a hospital on campus (great for science kids and that medical stuff)
4. MDCL is amazing
5. We have a nuclear reactor
6. nearly all our (atleast my) profs speak English with not very bad accents
7. centro is amazing, eating 2 meals a day anywhere is going to suck after a while
8. bridges for you vegetarians
9. TIM HORTONS EVERYWHERE
10.REAL diversity like no other school. No biracial bullshit diversity like only having Chinese and White people, Every culture seems to have a large presence
11. Our campus is manageable in size
12. Our campus has freakin Cootes in the backyard
13. Our campus doesn't look like a jail
14. Westdale is a pretty sweet area
15. Proximity to GTA
16. No douchebag identity
17. Can't really think of any program that isn't good at Mac
18. specifically a great engineering, science, and other stuff maybe im not just going to make stuff up...
19. Bus pass for dirt cheap
20. Fair tuition and residence costs
21. Labs and tutorials that aren't online (read that in some other thread, **** queen's)
22. GO train, HSR, highway access.
23. Wind Home Zone so it doesn't matter that I live in Toronto
24. 4th best school in Canada as ranked internationally
25. Won't be looked down upon with a McMaster degree
26. website doesn't make things impossible to learn about (cough cough UofT Queen's McGill)
27. the undergrad calendar is actually unreal
28. MacInsiders (thanks Chevalier)
p.p.s Just thought about Macconnect and how you can't get it everywhere which blows

McMaster is Amazing, hence why I am here. I only HATE Mugsi/Solar.

The thing I love about Mac is that despite what opinions you may have had about it to begin with, it always grows on you. If you liked it before, you like it more as time goes by. If you didn't, you end up liking it.
I had a choice to go other places, but I chose to come here. I don't ever regret it.

Well said! Put the haters to rest. McMaster is an amazing school, we have an amazing community, and it is definitely a place I call home. No other university I've visited has the same feeling that Mac does

The only negative I could think of is the lack of Starbucks, seeing as I'm addicted to it. Other than that, I love everything about the school.

I completely agree! I love Mac and have always wanted to go here. One thing about Tim Horton's though, and this is obviously soooo minor, but I'm just adding this because you mentioned it, Westerm has 14 Timmie's on their campus. We have 4. I also wish they were open later. That's obv. not a big deal, I'm just saying because you mentioned it!
GO MAC GOOOOOOOOO!!!

I love Mac, MUGSI or not. The campus almost makes up for living away from home for so long. I agree with everything on the list!

Maybe it's because I don't drink coffee, but I find the Tim's on campus are terrible. They don't serve sandwiches or soup, which is mostly the reason why I would go to Tim's.
And IMO, Mac's websites are really difficult to navigate. They have a different website for everything and I can never find what I'm looking for.
Other than that, I agree, Mac is pretty awesome

Really? Maybe it's because I've been using the McMaster website for years but I find it quite easy to navigate. What do you have trouble finding?
