Where's my OSAP?
Alright so I went and picked up my OSAP on the very first day and they told me that it would only take 4 business days for it to show up in my account statement. It's now been 7 business days and their is still no money added onto my account statement. I've never had the problem of it taking longer than it should so I'm getting a little freaked out right now. Should I contact the office of financial aid or should I just wait it out a little bit?

Check your OSAP web profile again, and see if it matches up... if not then there might be something wrong.

I would suggest waiting a couple more days, and if it doesn't show up by say Thursday or Friday, then contact them.

You know the grant cheque? I deposited my grant cheque into my bank and it shows the amount there in credit but it isn't available for me to withdraw. And it's been like 5 days now. Does the amount need to be verified or something? And should it take so long?

There's a good chance that your OSAP entitlement is split between a grant, and a loan. If that is the case, they are deposited separately. I received my grant money yesterday, but have not yet received my loan money.

Check the OSAP website to see if the amount already deposited matches to the loan or grant amount issued to you in January.

Depends on your bank, on what type of account you have, and whether or not you have ever deposited a cheque which bounced before.

I am with CIBC, and when I deposit a cheque at an instant teller, the money is available to be immediately withdrawn. The only time this changed was when a friend wrote me a cheque which bounced. For about 2 months after that, every deposit I made at a machine was held until they could verify it.

A lot of my friends are with different banks, and have to wait for the bank to release deposits no matter what.

I haven never deposited a cheque that has bounced. I know it takes a day or two to verify the cheque but it has never taken so long.

Unfortunately you just have to be patient. Banks deal with a lot of paperwork, and probably have peak times.

It may also be possible that the cheque was post-dated for some reason, but that's not super likely.

maybe because you owed some money to the university and the OSAP covered that for you. And the remaining 30% was given to you.

Just a thought.

It usually takes 5 business days to process... so if it's STILL not in there, go to a branch and check with a teller.
