Which 'electives' can I take?
Hi there

Someone recently told me that the course listed on this page:

http://academiccalendars.rom cmaste...7& navoid=561

are my elective choices.

However when I log on to Mugsi and choose classes it lets me take anything I like.

For example I'm a level 1 business student and it still lets me select biology or anything I like.

If possible I'd like to take some science courses as electives as I find them very interesting(didnt have the grades to apply to the life sciences and this is my last year to apply)

Is there anything stopping me from taking any course I like (other than the prerequisite)

You are not restricted to those electives. If you actually read the paragraph above the list, you'll see that it's part of the "International/Cross-Cultural/Language Menu", and you need two courses from that list prior to graduation.
You can take any course you want as an elective, provided you have the prerequisites (and you're not in the faculty of engineering).
Note that SOLAR will let you select any course offered, but at the end before you submit it will check to see that you meet prereqs, and it's at that point that you will not be allowed to continue with that course selection. The fact that you can select the course from the drop-down menu means nothing. In fact, you don't meet the prereqs for one of the first-year bio courses, because you're in business.

Thanks for your help.

So theres only one biology course I'm restricted from taking?

Is there a place on Mugsi where it lists all the classes im restricted from taking?

No, it's not on MUGSI, nor is there a list somewhere. You look in the course calendar and see what the prerequisites are for the courses that you're interested in.

RedRanger says thanks to starfish for this post.

Here's a more comprehensive list of all the electives available to level I students: http://academiccalendars.rom cmaste...id=7&poid=4304

^Note that that list does not filter by what you have the prereqs for. Just because a course is on that list, that doesn't necessarily mean you can take it.
