in regards to what type of law, i didn't want to forget entirely about my undergrad degree, so i wanted to do family and real estate, initially. lately I've been thinking about corporate though.

There are better job prospects for family/real estate, so that's a good field. Corporate is my second choice after criminal. Just for the fact that it pays really well But criminal is my first choice.

I was considering family law but heard the job prospects weren't good.

That's a huge area to cover since there is numerous areas that you can be interested in. When I was seriously looking into going to law school, I was fortunate to have family friends who are lawyers, so I just asked what to expect from the different areas. Then I did some of my own research. I would suggest doing the same. I would also suggest you not become a lawyer for the money because you will probably end up not liking the job, and that's not worth it.

haha, yeah, family and real estate are really good for that. but corporate seems like it has more room for growth. why do you want to do criminal law?

I just want to do some good for society. I've noticed lately that there is a lack of victims rights in a high number of cases. This, to me, is a disturbing fact to say the least. When I tell everyone that I want to go into criminal law, they immediately assume that I mean a defence attorney. When I tell them that I want to be on the side of the crown/prosecute, they immediately think that prosecutors are bad people who only want to put people in jail. I blame the media for this. They put forward the prosecutor as the bad person...
