Why does McMaster care if I'm over 6' 2"?
I was applying for residence at McMaster and they asked me if i was over six foot two. Why do they want to know this? Does this have anything to do with the room I get?

I had a friend last year who was 6'3, they usually put you inside a chamber until you're compressed to about 6'2.
Nobody likes really tall people.

To actually answer the OP's question, they do have "tall-people" beds. I know some people who got their own single rooms due to their height.

Normal recruiting for the basketball team isn't working so they're resorting to this.

As someone who is 6'6 1/2" and who filled out that part of the form I can verify that yes, you get a bed extension if you can prove you are over 6'2". The bed is 6 1/2 feet long as opposed to 6 feet and is also more comfortable in my opinion. However, only certain room styles accommodate the extended beds. So applying for the bed extension limits you to getting a single room, apartment style, or suite (the 3 best styles as far as I am concerned).
tl;dr if you are over 6'2" go through the trouble to prove it, it's totally worth it.

I'm 6'4", so I had to apply for a bed extension. I needed to get a doctor's note proving this. My doctor's exact words were:
"They need a doctors note to know that you're 6'4"? That's pretty stupid" I agree. I had one in a double room, and I had very little space around my desk because it was jabbing out into that area.
