Why wont SOLAR let me drop a course?
I'm trying to drop/cancel a term 1 course (and pick up another course in term 2). I have done this in two pervious years on SOLAR. I should be able to select "Drop" in the dropdown menu for the course. But SOLAR isn't giving me that option.

Does anyone know how I can drop a term 1 course? Do I have to go in and talk to an academic advisor now?

I did choose "cancel", but when my tuition was updated, it went up by $300. The "Term 1 Units" and "Term 2 Units" look as if I have cancelled a term 1 course and picked up a term 2 course, but my tuition should stay the same.

If I just "cancel" the term 1 course without adding the term 2 course, my tuition goes down by about $300 (from my original tuition of $6000). But when I cancel the term 1 course and add the term 2 course, my tuition does up by about $300 (from my original tuition of $6000).

I don't understand why. It's a regular course, it shouldn't be costing any more money. I dropped a course last year at the beginning of November, and I was told they don't take money off a dropped course until a week before the final drop date (November 12).

I may be wrong, but since it's like halfway through the year, mac only refunds only a portion of the money back.

Edit: found the pdf, http://www.mcmaster.ca/bms/student/p...ncellation.pdf.

You lose 60% of the payment if you dropped it today.

Yeah, I found that too. It seems to have changed drastically since the last time I dropped a course this late. :( Oh well, thanks for the replies.
