i definitely think tht windows 7 is worth the upgrade whether u r getting it for free or u have to buy it for $39....the only possible issue u can have with windows 7 is that some specialized softwares dont work on it....like i have a lenovo and some of the thinkvantage softwares weren't working initially before but now lenovo released those softwares for win7 too, so i have no problem whatsoever....if u switch over from windows 7, u will definitely see a big performance boost as i did....so i would definitely suggest an upgrade....

Windows 7 is a very good OS. I "got" (and if you don't understand the quotations then don't bother asking) windows 7 ultimate and I think it is the best thing going. Vista was amazing too but because of a shaky start it was slandered to the point that most people thought it was horrible OS. Windows 7 is like a new paint job on a old car. (and maybe the oil got changed too).

And if anyone knows me you can tell i'm biting my tongue because i don't want to turn this into a mac vs pc argument.

Well you could, but for $40. It's not that expensive. Also, those links are for just the iso of the discs, you need your own key.

Also, if you install 64-bit, all programs will work for it since if you have a 32-bit program, it installs into a different directory.

I agree... pirating is not really worth it in my opinion. I'd much rather have my own legitimate copy.
