Very interesting hidden camera show, but it's really sad that the majority did not stand up for this muslim women while she gets harassed.
Although the guy who's harassing is an actor, look how others behave in favor of the harasser in situations like that..

I love this show. So interesting to see people's reactions. People who otherwise would have never said anything outright discriminatory suddenly will when they see someone else doing it, because that makes it "okay". The people who stand up to the actor are going against the crowd, which takes a lot more courage, and is also much more rare.

Well. In this current scenario, I'd stick up for her. I'm honestly not too sure if it'd have to with me being Muslim or not myself. I'd think I'd do it anyway because I'd feel really bad for her.

i love it too, i only watch it on youtube b/c i have never seen it on TV
i wonder if Texas has a lot of immigrants, i think these people didn't say something because they haven't interacted with other cultures and ppl of different ethnicity, or religion.
maybe they wanted to side the person with more power.
not very nice of them.

say this episode ages ago. texas is a pretty bad state. too christian down there. in the situation in the video, id say something to the guy/defend the muslim and then leave the store without buyin anything there. pretty easy to do that in that situation.

standin up to the actor in this show isnt really goin against the crowd. from what i have seen, most go against the actors with ease since its pretty obvious what the best thing to do is and what is right.

I was referring to the show in general but it is a crowd effect - the "crowd" is silent. Most people don't speak up, so others think it's okay to not speak up also.

1. Pretend to side with the shopkeeper.
2. Get an Apple strudel.
3. Give her the strudel for free.
Win. Pretty old stuff though.

The shopkeeper will watch the person give the woman the strudel, which will send a message, but with people like that you tend to be wasting your time trying to get them to change. You can't reason with them because their opinion makes no logical sense. The most you can do, especially in a situation like that, is to show that you won't stand for it.
Of course, in this case it was an actor, but if it wasn't, you really wouldn't have been able to teach him anything.

It'll just show the shopkeeper that nobody gives a fuck what he thinks. Discriminatory people are hard to reason with without wasting a lot of time.
