I'm pretty sure the salary has to do with their research productivity, and what not. This is not a measure of their ability as a preceptor!

There was a law passed in Ontario that says the tax payers deserve the right to know what public servants make annually. This is published for universities because the universities in Ontario are all public institutions.

Do you think the profs look at these and compare salaries?

Tiina Salisbury couldn't even explain to us why an example in the book was the way it was, yet she proceeded to give us a half-ass explanation of it anyways.
I highly doubt she has any skills that would make her a good researcher.

Teaching is a skill. Really it is. So many people I have seen are able to do it, but can't pass on that knowledge to others.
Her skill might not be in teaching. That, however, does not negate her ability to research in her field.

Sad to see that my favorite prof from first year ( Ken Sills - Physics) didn't make the list.
But I chuckled when I saw that his wife makes more than him. I wonder if the other physics profs look at this and make fun of him

That isn't the only outcome. One can defend for and against quite well if given a chance.

Why would he be made fun of because his wife makes more than he does?

I would love to be in that situation! My secret desire is to be a stay at home dad.

But I was just thinking that if salary was based on popularity, professors would be more lenient towards students, using grades and giving out extensions to gain popularity and thus more $$.
Biggest effect this would have is that smarter students won't be able to identify themselves as easily.
