I would say that... I think 7-9 hours is adequate for students. Of course some people function perfectly fine after 5 hours of sleep and some people need 12 hours of sleep. Just don't over sleep.

7-9 hours is great. Less or more tends to make me tired.

It depends what kind of learner you are. I found out in university that I learn by writing. I can read over my notes a million times, but I won't remember a thing until I actually write it down. So I go through my notes for each course and re-write the important points.
Really focus on what profs tell you to study or what it says on their study guides. If they say it might be on the exam, it will be on the exam!
