Easy there with the name calling. It's easy enough for you to get in over your head.

Also, DIAF!

Because you are forgetting what kind of age that was. The space race wasn't all about science. It was about a superpower's best way to demonstrate it's power projection. You seriously think if the U.S was faking it the U.S.S.R would let it ?

I think 2012 is a bunch of garbage... basing predictions on a Mayans? They were cool, but really?

There's very little scientific evidence to support it.

Remember Y2K?

It's so sad. But I find it a little strange that after the US got there, no other country finished off their moon landing plan and landed (I suppose this would waste a heck of a lot of money, especially since going second and finding more rocks wouldn't really accomplish anything).

Back on topic:
Yeah my housemate was talking about how the world is going to end in 2012 and I kept trying to convince her that it wasn't, that it was just the beginning of another cycle (like another calendar year). I don't think she bought it...

There are also reflectors that were installed on the moon. So you could shoot lasers at the moon which would be reflected back.

How powerful would these lasers have to be to reach the moon (Namely, can I build/buy/rent one)

Not sure, I didn't do any research into it.

Mayans are a people who still exist, and whose culture still exists, including the calender system that is mentioned in the article.
