I'm not sure if you still can, but I don't see why not...go to your payment agreement, and where you had previously selected 'payment in full', select Flex Plan 1 or Flex Plan 2...if you'll pay the remaining balance in Sept, it doesn't really matter which one you select. Then, confirm it and hopefully you'll only get charged the 1.2% interest

I think you have to email them about it...their email address can be found under 'contact us' on that website.

In that case...hopefully it's not too late to change your payment agreement so that you only get 1.2% instead of the extra fee!
Well, it doesn't say that interest is charge, but the "default fee" could be interest. It's really vague...

In any case, if you read the sentence carefully it says "or make appropriate arrangements". So you can call in to try and make arrangements, I mean it's only 5$.

Plus, it says "may lead to" not "will lead to".

'Flex Plans - the following plans require a minimum payment amount and will be assessed a $35 Flex Plan Fee per term as well as interest charges. Please select the option that best suits you.'

It's better to do another wire transfer

well it says
'You are responsible for following through with the terms of the Payment Plan you have selected. Failure to fulfill the terms of your Payment Agreement will result in a Non-Compliance Fee and may cause your registration to be cancelled.'

Yeah, I noticed that the terms and conditions on the McMaster website and the terms and conditions on the actual payment agreement are slightly different. It's really weird, but I guess the one on the payment agreement (the one you quoted) is the one you should follow since it's actually on the payment agreement.

But again, it says "may". I don't think they've actually cancelled anyone's registration on like September 2nd though. I haven't heard anything like that anyways. They probably allow a grace period for that.

If you chose the option to Pay in Full and do not pay in full by September first they charge you a $35 late fee.

You should see if they'll allow someone else to pay towards your account. $5 is a very small amount, someone already in Canada who is already in Hamilton would probably be willing to go to Student Accounts & Cashiers and give them $5 for you. If that's allowed all they'd need is your name/student #.

That said I'm not entirely sure if other people are actually allowed to pay on your student account.

The late fee was last year though, and it was clearly advertised in the payment agreement. This year they completely changed the payment plans part of the payment agreement... So really anything is possible at this point. There "Non-Compliance Fee" is so vague, it could still be 35$ but I wouldn't be surprised if it increased :\

I went online to pay my tuition today and looked at my Payment Agreement again and I needed to look up something so I googled McMaster payment or something like that. I got to the McMaster site and I look at a PDF regarding payment for 2010-2011 and it stated that there is still a late fee of $35 if you choose to pay in full and don't do so by September 1st.

Hmmm interesting.

Found it: http://www.mcmaster.ca/bms/student/p...ment_Plans.pdf

I guess that's what the "Non-Compliance Fee" is.

But man, McMaster is really not consistent with their terms and conditions... In this PDF it doesn't say anything about registration cancellation.

I sent them an e-mail about inconsistencies and to tell me which one is the correct information. I'll update when (and if >.>) I get a reply.
