Academic Probation 2nd year
Hi I'm in second year sociology, so far I have 3 full year courses and 2 semester courses in each semester. I got a 42 in my only test for one of my full year courses and its bringing the rest of my averages down, and im worried i might fall under academic probation. I guess my question is are full year courses included in ur Culminating average or not? I ask this because Ive only had one test and I plan on killing the rest. Please help.

Assuming you aren't doing awful in your other classes, getting a 42 on a test would probably not put you on academic probation even if it was worth 50% of the grade for that class. Unless your getting 50's in your other classes and aren't failing anything, you should be fine

Well the thing is thats my only mark for that course so far, because its a full year course and in my other courses i defiantly am above at least a 60 but im wondering if this 42 or 0 will count towards my CA even though its a full year course and i have the whole other half of the course to go.

no one gets put on probation for one failed test. if that was the truth, entire engineering faculty would be on probation.

To be on probation your CA must be between 3.0 and 3.4 -- one failed test wouldn't leave you there, but even if it does for the semester, they won't update it until May so you have until then to bring your grades up.

Yeah thats what i was thinking, but its my only mark for the course so far and 1st semester is coming to a close, but I have the rest of second year to improve that mark, the only thing is well that 42 go towards my C.A or does your C.A only include completed courses.

Your CA only includes completed courses, so even if you get a 0 on the first half of the course, you could theoretically get an 8 on the second half and pass the six units with a 4.

Thanks so courses with a 6 at the end (2A06) their culminating average is only counted towards your C.A following completion of the course at the end of 2nd semester? And the only courses that will count towards my C.A are the one that have a 3 (2A03) and are ending at the end of december following exams? Sorry for all the questions

Your CA isn't even calculated until all grades are final in May.
