Access Codes
Hi,

I just recently found out about how, depending on the course, it is necessary to buy access codes. Does anybody know if Chem 1A03/1AA3 need access codes? I was initially hoping to buy a used textbook for these courses but if I need an access code, I'm starting to wonder if I should just buy the package they sell at the McMaster Bookstore.

Chem 1A03/1AA3 use Mastering Chemistry, which you can get a code for in the package from Titles. You can also buy it separately. Depending on how much you pay for the used textbook, it might still be worth it to buy the code separately.

access codes are optional for pretty much all first year classes in science and math. i highly recommend them tho since they are mark boosters and force you to keep up/ i think chem access code is like 40-60 bucks separately

I'm going to just buy the package they sell at titles. the access code is 55$, and people are selling their used books (10th ed.) for $40 the cheapest I've seen, most of them are 50+, so it is worth it to me to get a new textbook for basically the same price.

Interesting enough, I did see that the access code alone for chemistry was being sold for $55 at the bookstore a couple of weeks ago. However, the past few days, when I try to look it up again, I can't find the option to buy only the access code anymore. Would the store ever stop selling the access code seperately?

Yup, sometimes. I feel like we didn't sell it seperately last year for some reason. I just remember consistently selling econ and math access codes seperately.

Pretty sure you can always buy them online, but its usually best to buy them in the book/code/solutions combo

I remember one of my TAs gave us a mastering bio code that was to be shared with the class, basically. I found it pretty good, albeit limited. What it actually covered, I'm sure can just as easily be found online though (like really, cell cycle, transcription process, etc are all covered in any intro bio course and are all over the place)

Mastering chem, however, was superb.
