Advice on choosing housing?
New question: What is there to do during the 4 month gap in summer, besides moving back home? I've got a summer job in Toronto that is quite stable (it won't be going anywhere next year), however I'd imagine that there are far more applicants than there are summer jobs in Hamilton. Is it possible to take electives in summer, just for my own interest?

In general just learn to read the contract and know what rules are set in place including house rules. Look for people who fit your critera. Do you like a house that parties alot? Or quiet? etc

Best bet for a quiet environment is an apartment to yourself, or an apartment with one (maybe two) other people. Makes it easier to tell them to be quiet.

Plenty of people take electives in the summer...especially since as you get into upper years, less and less required courses will be offered in the summertime.

There are also quite a few jobs on campus, if you apply early enough.
