Huh? I specifically said that point in hudaks platform was totally wrong. He should have been more vauge (like the liberals and NDP) and said "cuts to jobs and taxes" and "massive job creation".
All I can hope is that the liberals come back to the center. Their budget that triggered the election had an absolute insane amount of spending. Pretty much the equivalent of being $100,000 in debt ... then somehow getting a million more dollars of loans to go buy a Ferrari Enzo.
Ontario's deficit has reached Rae-levels, has caused Ontarios credit rating to be downgraded, has lowered Ontario bond prices to all time lows, AND the interest payments (11 billion/year) on our deficit alone accounts for 10% of Ontario's revenue. Personal GDP is $3000 dollars less than the provincial average, energy prices are the highest, and personal taxes are some of the highest. Meanwhile we are compensating for the exodus of private companies (who add to the economy) by creating make work projects in the public sector (jobs which merely maintain the economy .. since they are paid for by taxpayers .. and add to Ontarios increasing pension debt).
Are the liberals the wrong party? No. Liberals are usually centralists who are very capable of balancing a budget while maintaining strong government services. But this particular platform... at a time where ontario is probably the most vulnerable it has ever been... has too much spending and too little disregard for finances. We have to be careful not to become another detroit, or if the housing bubble bursts (which is a possibility although probably not too likely), another Spain.
