I remember reading a thread a while back that had a discussion going on that McMaster doesn't have enough seats for incoming students in their classes, and how the MSU and McMaster were fighting it out. Today, I got an email from McMaster how residence is also now superfull, and they'd offer me a bunch of incentives if I were to give my spot to someone else. Was just wondering if these two things are related and someone has a source or something for what's going on exactly...was curious.

Sounds interesting, care to elaborate on this?

"Typically, cancellations received through the summer allow us to accommodate additional students. This year, there have been fewer cancellations than normal.
As a result of this situation, we are offering the following incentive package for students who may be interested in considering other housing options:
A full $600 deposit refund
$1000 cheque, bookstore or student account credit
Priority placement for residence accommodations next September."

Nah, i'm not interested off-campusing this late in the game, don't wanna screw over next year for 1K, i'm sure it's a great offer for those that have some easily made arrangement though.

I'm pretty sure the problem is that they offered more spots than normal.

Yeah that is a great offer! This overflow is crazy though, I guess they weren't expecting it! I know some people that were waitlisted last year cause they had below 80 or didn't send in their residence application on time but they got a spot eventually, now people who have met both these requirements have been waitlisted!

I doubt it, not by a significant amount anyway (like hundreds more offers) but I guess we won't know until the end of the school year when McMaster releases all the information (I think it's at the end of the school year...)

I thought I read something about how more people applied to McMaster this year? I don't remember reading anything about Mac sending out more offers though.

I'm pretty sure applications increase every year. Also, I found out that the 2010 release was for the 2009 year. So the next release will be for the 2010 year. So we won't know about the 2011 year until November 2012 :\

I'm pretty sure I read an article about it somewhere--can't find it now--that McMaster had an increase in people applying (an increase more than any other school this year).
