I only say this because the general trend of "This year is totally worse/better than last year! It's a new peak/low!". Like my high school saying, "This year there are more skips then ANY other year" or "This year more people applied to universities than any year before it!" When in reality those statements are said every year.

It hasn't happened in the past 3 years I've been at McMaster. I don't know about before that since I didn't follow McMaster related news.

:( We all know whats gonna happen, i think its safe to say first year classes might be more difficult than normal just so they can weed out as much people as they can to fit the second year programs, because theres no way half of those people can make it to second year - i dont think theres enough spots

There are second year programs with no seat restrictions.

It's because there were a lot of applicants this year, I applied this year too and they were taking a while to get back to me as I was a transfer student and when I complained they told me about the high volume of students applying.

I mean like, if you're going to give up your place in residence, shouldn't you be like 100% sure that you'll have a place to stay before you do? O_o What if, after giving up residence, you can't find a reasonably priced place or any place at all...

Ohh, my bad, I misunderstood. The thing is though, there's a TON of places off-campus so you're bound to find something. There are a ton of those ads on MacInsiders alone, not to mention the houses that aren't taken up yet, apartment buildings, etc.

I was surprised by this email but I guess with the sciences being the most popular choice for undergrad applicants this year Mac was where a lot of people wanted to be. I considered taking the offer but I am going into first year and wanted to keep my residence spot because I have been to Hamilton a grand total of once and would prefer to get to know the city for a year before moving off campus.

I think they should use the liberal arts building project money to put up another residence. Any objections?

Can a residence even be built in 2 months?
Besides, Mac is short on res rooms AND classrooms. If the liberal arts building was to be built for September, that would help with the classroom problem. So either relieve the classroom problem or the res problem, but the other still exists.
Also, the money for the liberal arts building has come from sources that want it going directly to the liberal arts building. I don't think Mac can just use that money for whatever they want.
