I've called the HSR but they can't confirm anything, which should mean that there's no one else to ask...but hey, maybe some random student whose parents run the HSR might know or something.
Does anyone know how informed the bus drivers are about this stuff? Has anyone tried to use theirs yet? And for those who got the discounted summer pass, what did that look like?

On the MSU website it just says "through the school year".

Yepp. First of September to the end of April. (Definitely school year).
I kinda wish it extended throughout the whole year though, but not everyone stays/lives in Hamilton.

The sticker says 09/10, meaning it would have to be used during the school year. But I think it would be more like Sept - end of April

They are quite strict about it...I used my bus pass on May 1st and the both drivers gave me a hard time about it (I had to transfer) but eventually let me on after a 'warning' that it won't happen again.

HSR runs a racket... honestly. Who charges $2.40 for a bus? It's so annoying that I just end up paying $2.50. Scam.

I've heard that some drivers are stricter than others about it. As in, some will literally not let you on if you don't have the 'proper fare' if it's still August, for example. I think it's safest to go by Sept 1st at the earliest.
And haha...about the $2.40. Maybe that's the trick -- they get you to pay $2.50 because it's more convenient, but it looks like it's a whole 10 cents cheaper .

Yep! It's 1.85 until you're 19 , yet not including post-sec students. Makes no sense to me XD, but hey I'm not in post secondary yet

So September 1st to be safe, and last-August if I want to take chances?
I vaguely recall using mine last year near the end of August (30th or 31st?) because that's when move-in day was. I think it's later this year though. But if the bus drivers don't know, I wonder if I'd be able to convince them that they're wrong. I mean, I don't think they all get together at meeting and are told, "Okay, this is the day we can start letting kids with these things through."
...Are they?

Gah! Try paying $3 for riding the bus in Mississauga. $3! That's ridiculous.
