There's a strike coming. Also includes York Regional Transit as well.

My sister talked to the driver today about it. He said a strike is likely, and that we'd be informed by Saturday evening the latest.
He also said a monthly pass (the paper card, not sure about PRESTO) would be honored on a GO Train (not sure how this works out... maybe bring money just in case...)
Looks like I'm gonna to learn how to use a train...

Uh, anyone have any ideas on how to get to school now if this strike does occur? >_>
Specifically from Bronte carpool.
There is
a) driving
b) car-pooling with people from the same stop
c) ?

Take a bus from Aldershot GO. Google says the 18, but you will have to walk from about the highway (where the Columbia In'l College is). That, or take a bus somewhere into Hamilton where you can catch one of the Mac HSRs... (Not really sure how transit works in Aldershot/if its combined with HSR).
From Bronte... I'm not sure how far it is, but if you can get to the Port Credit Go station, you can take a train to Aldershot Go and then HSR from there. It's roughly a 2 hr commute from Square One going that way, for comparison (if you leave SQ1 at 6:30 am, get off last bus at Columbia In'l college at 8 am, walk 10 mins or so up Main to Mac).
There's also a train station in Milton and I think at Clarkson Go... maybe one of those work better?
Random Edit: Lake Simcoe is HUUUUGE!

There was supposed to be a GO strike on September 19 this year too, but they decided not to at the last minute. So don't freak out yet, they might change their minds again *fingers crossed*

This is the same one, they just pushed back the negotiation deadline.

Thanks Brit, though unfortunately both of those go in the completely opposite direction to Mac (i.e., I would be going 40 minutes east and then back west towards Hamilton).
Hopefully they negotiate some crap soon, though I was telling my brother it would make sense to have a strike since McMaster/something relating to McMaster has to have a strike every year we go to school.

I'm guessing you meant take the go train to the Burlington go station and then get on the 1 West to Hamilton....since you can't take a train to Mapleview Mall lol
If they strike this is what I'll have to do :/

One alternative that I'm considering is:
1) train to Appleby GO (you can get on from Port Credit, Clarkson, Oakville etc iirc)
2) shuttle from Appleby to Ron Joyce Centre (~10 mins)
3) shuttle to Mac (~40 mins)
http://www.degroote.mcmaster .ca/rj... Transit.html
or i'm thinking of staying with someone on/near campus for a bit, carpool, aldershot
but keeping my fingers crossed that they don't strike - apparently Monday is when they're supposed to make a decision, so there might not be a strike.
