Also guys check this link. Assuming you get to aldershot go station, this is the only way.

Great, James street. Now I have to hang around sketchy downtown too.

I'm just gonna keep editing this with routes to keep them nice and together.

So the general idea so far is:
-City Bus to Train Station (Port Credit Go for sure; any one know alts?)
-Train to Aldershot Go
-Burlington Transit 1 to King/James.
-HSR 10 or 5 to Mac.

And the best alternative seems to be (from waldo):
-City bus to Port Credit, Clarkson, Oakville GO, etc.
-Train to Appleby GO
-Shuttle from Appleby to Ron Joyce Centre
-Shuttle to Mac

And another idea, from mist:
-City bus to Oakville GO station
-Train from Oakville GO to Appleby GO
-City bus Appleby GO to Hamilton (King at James)
-King @ James to Mac (Take bus 5, 10, 51, etc)

I'm really hoping that if GO does strike, they run a holiday schedule or something instead of stopping the buses completely... essp since a lot of people depend on them.

Let's try to put something together...

With people closer to Burlington probably favouring the second option, and people closer to Mississauga and maybe Oakville going for the second.

Anyone have another alternative?

I'm really hoping that if GO does strike, they run a holiday schedule or something instead of stopping the buses completely... essp since a lot of people depend on them.
How long does it take to get to Mac from the Aldershot GO station via HSR?

Oh, yes, my bad. #1 is a Burlington bus, the other two are the HSRs we always see around campus.

Anyone know what the fare is off hand? God knows I'll have enough time to get exact change by the time I make it up there.

Roughly 45 minutes. And to get there form SQ1 is roughly 80.

A two hour commute, compared to the 35-50 by Go bus.

Yeah this is going to suck pretty badly if they do go on strike.

This is the schedule for that #1 that goes from Aldershot GO to King at James stop at Hamilton:
http://cms.burlington.ca/AssetFactory.aspx?did =18755

So my alternative plans are:

1. Get to Oakville GO station
2. Train from Oakville GO to Appleby GO (~ 10 minutes) since the train doesn't go to Aldershot GO until like 9:30 am.
3. Appleby GO to Hamilton (King at James stop) (~ 1 hour)
4. King @ James to Mac (Take bus 5, 10, 51 etc whichever comes first) (~10 minutes)

roughly a 1.5 - 2 hour commute compared to my regular 30 minute commute :(

If you're right about the Aldershot GO train then I would have to do the same thing... **** it, I'll just hide out at Mac and bum a ride home every few days.

The fare for Burlington transit is $3 regularly, but they do have a GO integration system though I'm not sure it would be in place to go from Aldershot GO all the way into Hamilton. http://cms.burlington.ca/Page783.aspx

Also, someone was talking about taking the shuttle from Ron Joyce Center in Burlington, but I'm pretty sure you need to be a student attending classes at RJC to do that.

"A shuttle bus is available for students, staff and faculty traveling between the main McMaster campus in Hamilton and the Ron Joyce Centre in Burlington."

You might still be right, but I hope those guys make an exception tomorrow. I have a feeling they will though - those white buses parked near DSB almost always have space (I'm assuming that's the shuttle).

Bear in mind the train to aldershot go will not be there at many times in the day. In the sense for the most part in the morning i runs till burlington go station. From there you have to take the go bus transfer to aldershot. Good luck with that! its only later in the day and early on i beilive that the go train goes all the way to aldershot.
