There's SOMETHING cut. I'm fairly certain of that, due to the extent of services downed, but whether it was Fibre, or servers, or something else, I'm curious: Like I said, when fibre lines are cut, there's EXTREMELY big trouble to be had. If it's on government property too, its jailable.
Fibre, when damaged, has to be ENTIRELY replaced, from the source, to end user. Usually costs tens if not hundreds of thousands, depending on where its cut. There's no splicing fibre lines.

This is insane. If I hadn't been able to get notes off my friend who downloaded them in advance, I literally would not have been able to get anything done today.
wth. down for 8+ hours? This is ridiculous.

well I heard that a fibre line was cut on james street, which could be ours because that line can go to the fibre ring around the city that the opg (i think) put in and rents, so if that was cut, thats a big outage....

I said fibre lines "can't" be spliced. Anyways, it could be really bad, but I'm suprised it's not in the news yet.

Any thoughts on possible essay extensions? I have an essay due tomorrow morning (and though I should I have started before 6pm tonight, I didn't) and now I have NO access to the necessary journal databases...

You managed to get it almost finished? I have 1/5th of it done. I wanted to access the article databases to finish it early today, but its been down all day.Went to a friend's apt half an hr from campus to try, to no avail. Didn't think all mac sites would be down. I just hope she gives us an extension.
