Average Grade
Hi, I just wonder what should we do if we get the average grade less than 3 or 3.5? Will we be kicked out from this school??

and is that we need to get average of 3 so that we can go to summer school?? does the mark we get affect the average grade we got in the first year?

Hey there,
don't worry, you don't get kicked out but you do get put on academic probation giving you a chance to pull the grades up. I'm not too sure about summer school but you should talk to an academic advisor who can look at your grades and discuss options for you they are really helpful
Good luck on finals,
Trish

umm im sorry, i know this may sound mean, but r u in health sci really?...

none the less i think if you fall below a 3.5 you will be kicked out for at least 12 months......but thats depending on the faculty....i know for humannities its like that not sure about health sci...take a look at this site, i found the hummanities on there but couldn't find the academic regulations for health sci, but still worth a look, and definitely talk to your councilor.

This is what I heard... IF your average falls between a 3.0 and a 3.5 you have the opportunity to be put on academic probation. IF it falls below a 3.0 you will be removed from the university, but you will have a chance to be reinstated. You will appeal to the schoolboard and they will make their decision in June (So no summer school). If yo uare reinstated you GPA is a 0.00. You must raise your average to a 3.5 or higher during this time peroid or else you will be kicked out of the university for a minimum of 12 months before you can apply to be reinstated again. Goodluck on exams!

btw...Talk to an academic adviser as SOON as possible. You can ask mac insiders as much as you want but our opinions are our own imaginary truths compared to the advisers.

If you're in Health Sci I'm pretty sure you need a 6 to continue in the program. But usually they'll do whatever they can to help you figure out what's not working. Go see an academic advisor for sure.

The exact details are here:

If you are in Health Science in your first year then how could you know your grades yet? Two of our full year courses (Inquiry and Cell Biology) are still a complete mystery in terms of final marks (especially Inquiry). I'd definitely wait before predicting a mark.

If your average is below a 4, then you'll be kicked out of Engineering. But if your average is between 3.5 and 4, you can take summer courses to boost it. If you have a 4 by the end of the 2nd summer term, then you're fine.

In my first year, I failed a few courses and ended up with an average of 3.6. I took a few courses in the summer and boosted it up to 4.6 or something. So I was able to remain in Eng and I just spent my 2nd year retaking 1 st year courses that I failed or did poorly on.

As someone stated before, when you're below 3.5, you can get put on probation. If below a 3, then you're kicked out of the school.

I think you can read all these policies on the undergraduate calendar.

They kick you out because if you can't pull a 4.0 then you don't deserve to be at Mac.

The degree wouldn't be worth much if everyone could slack off for 4-5 years and still graduate...

And high school grades have nothing to do with your university grades. I've seen "smart" people fail and retards prevail.
