Avoided Picking Up OSAP
Hey, I was wondering what happens if you do not pick up your OSAP cheque ever. I only applied to be eligible for the McMaster Summer Work Program and have avoided actually taking the money issued to me. Am I right in assuming that I do not owe anything? Thanks

UM why wouldn't you take the money? You keep and spend the bursary money and then pay back the loan portion.

And yes it will negatively affect you. the point of osap in the summer work ;program is to prove financial need. by not picking it up you forfeit that you have financial need.

I would check with the Financial Aid office, MacPack might be right. I know there are some stipulations when you claim "financial need", but don't pick up your OSAP. You may be booted from the McWork program, or you may simply not be eligible for bursaries.

As for owing money - if you didn't pick anything up, you don't owe anything. The money just went back to OSAP.
