Hey guys i was just wondering because i couldn't find my last course to pick for first semester and now probably all classes will be closed by the time SOLAR opens up for first year students, any advice? i was thinking of going to the faculty and asking them to put me in a course even tho it is closed.. has anyone done this ?

Courses don't "close", they just fill up.
When SOLAR reopens, it reopens for everybody. Yes, all 20000 of us, trying to get onto a server that has a 200~ student capacity. I'm not following the SOLAR movements this year because 9/10 of my courses are required and chosen for me, but what you do right now is pick any course you can and confirm your payment agreement. Your tuition is proportional ot the number of units you take, not WHAT the units are. It's faculty based, so if you take 3 extra units, you'll be charged your faculty's per unit price, even if they are Teletubby Faculty units for instance.

When SOLAR reopens on August 12th or something, for sectioning, you can try to get into a coures you actually like and try to pick cores that work out better for your schedule

Hey i don't know if you have access to solar or not but i just made some changes to my course selection (added few and dropped few courses) this morning, so you can try doing that or take any other course available and and then make changes in the first week of September or you may even want to make changes during the first week of classes because at that time people will drop courses.
