If you live in the Ainslie Wood area near the 403, don't go with cogeco. Had TekSavvy before from the previous group and they were pretty good; reliable and decent speed. There were sometimes rare disconnections around 12am - 2am for about 5-10 seconds but I would still prefer this compared to Cogeco in this area where the speed fluctuates constantly and sometimes it just goes out at normal study hours like 6pm -11pm, lasting for around an hour and sometimes after those times. I don't think price should be much of an issue since you're splitting it 9 ways

I use Cogeco and I had no problems with them.

However Bell is ultimately the turd that you should avoid. They didn't upgrade cables in our building, so anyone who used Bell got screwed. They also signed a contract with a neighbor of mine, just to realize in a few days that the old cables in his apartment were cut (because previous owners used new cables with Cogeco so the old cables were unnecessary), which basically meant the neighbor paid for nothing. Bell also constantly trolls the people in my building with endless spam and ad calls from India. Not to mention Bell had a lot of problems with the consumer law. Just a bad company.

There are only 2 providers in Hamilton: Bell and Cogeco. All other are resellers.

I would highly recommend Cogeco cable over bell as everyone I know has had maybe a good deal but issues through the roof either in connection or billing. Definitely go for an unlimited plan.

My personal recommendation is Start as Teksavvy is getting way more expensive and has had more restrictions. My current line is 30/10 unlimited cable with modem rental for $80/month, no contract just install fee. For a house of 9 you will need at least this. It is better to go over than under and have people complain when everyone is watching their netflix. If you have an existing cogeco line you may qualify an install fee waived
