I forgot that too, but I wouldn't put it ahead of any of my top 10 there. Perhaps Pokemon Gold Silver, but it's a debate.

I have to admit that Goldeneye isn't really on my top 10 list. Top 20 for sure, but I can't put my finger on what I don't like about it. It's like a "8.5/10" game for me. It doesn't have the right feel. I'm not sure, I wish I had an N64 so I could play it again.

Starfox peaked with Starfox 64 and even though that was a great game it's probably not in the same league as the top 10 Nintendo games.

I think part of the hype for goldeneye is nostalgia, far too many games have surpassed Goldeneye since it was released for Goldeneye to be considered one of the top 10 FPS let alone the top 10 Nintendo games

Do a Barrel Roll!
That game would be on my top 10 list if it wasn't for Slippy.
God. I hate that frog.

This is simply my opinion; and when I consider games to be "great" story is one of the factors I find important.

I know where you're coming from, I find story to be a huge deal, but I think in a thread like "best game" or "best Nintendo game" you can't hold a multiplayer game without a good story against it just like you can't hold no multiplayer against a single player game.
That being said, for whomever said GoldenEye has been surpassed....first of all, we're talking about Nintendo games, so they haven't had a lot of shooters surpass it.
Second, you have to bring in the nostalgia because the game is so old - you can't say it's not the top 10 because other games 10 years newer are better.
At the time, and for the next few years, it was the greatest FPS ever, so it should still be in the top 10.
And I forgot: RESIDENT EVIL 4. One of the best games of this generation, let alone only Nintendo games.

There have been few if any 2D platformers as good as Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario 64 is still among the best 3D platformers ever made, Ocarina of Time is still one of the best Adventure games, Pokemon is still one of the better RPGs, even when you compare them to the newest games in the genre but GoldenEye is no longer one of the best FPS when compared to what's come since.

1. Super Mario 64
2. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3. Pokemon RBY/GSC/RSE/DPPt
4. Conker's Bad Fur Day
5. EarthBound
6. Super Mario Bros. 3
7. Super Metroid
8. Paper Mario
9. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
10. Mario Kart 64
If this is a list for just Nintendo developed games ChronoTrigger couldn't be included, but if its just games for the Nintendo systems it would be up there for me.
I prefer EarthBound to Mother 3. I know I'm probably a minority in this one, but the party you get is better, and the game just flows better. Yeah, there's more of a story for M3, but I don't think that's enough to put it ahead of EarthBound. Its also possible that I found this because I was so much older when I decided to play M3. Both are awesome though.
Conker's Bad Fur Day is one of the most underrated games of all time, and is one of the few games that's only gotten better for me as I've aged. Its also one of the only games of that era to have both amazing single player and multiplayer.
Putting all the Pokemon generations up there was a bit of a cop out, but there really isn't a clear winner in terms of generations. The single player was more awesome in the earlier ones, but the actual battling aspect just kept getting better as time went on.
SM64 over OoT, always.
