BIO 1P03 Study Guide Concern
Ok, so I bought the fifth edition of life on earth (bio 1p03 course book) and the study guide for it. Now, I'm concerned about the multiple choice answers in the study guide. Either I'm just plain dumb, or these answers are blatantly wrong.

Page 1 #3

A collection of different populations make up a(n):
a. organism
b. community
c. ecosystem
d. biosphere
e. organ

I would think b), but the book says e) organ. Alright..

#4 Which of the following is/are organized and complex?
a. salt crystals
b. ocean
c. water flea
d. quartz rock
e. concrete

I would think c) but it says ocean, which the textbook defines as complex, but not organized. Cool.

There are more, but those were some prime examples of the ridiculousness.
This frustrates me beyond belief, any suggestions, tips, whatever?

I took this course last year, and if I remember correctly Kajiura said that the first chapter's study question answers are wrong. I think the correct responses are on the publishers website, but the prof will probably post this info on avenue for you

Yes - there were errors in the first 4 chapters of the self-tests of the study guide last year. I reported them to the publisher, the prof, the bookstore (suggested by the publisher, oddly enough)... the whole thing was ridiculous.

Hopefully they will have posted the correct answers on the publisher's website. Last year it was never really resolved in a timely manner, and it really didn't seem like anyone cared.
