Biochem Courses
Anyone recommend any good biochem courses that aren't too hard to do well in?

Also, the prerequisite for BIOCHEM 2B03 is

ISCI 1A24; or BIOLOGY 1A03, CHEM 1AA3, credit or registration in one of CHEM BIO 2OA3, CHEM 2BA3 or 2OA3, registration in B.H.Sc. (Honours) Biomedical Sciences Specialization, Honours Biochemistry, Honours Chemical Biology or Honours Molecular Biology and Genetics; or registration in Honours Physics (Biophysics Specialization)

Does that mean if I'm registered in the core BHSc program, I can't take this course?

Correct. Plus, that course is not an easy course that has dumb projects in it. You are dodging a bullet.

I recommend the biochem 2ee3 equivalent. AKA, biochem too easy 3.

One of the prerequisites for 2EE3 is orgo 2OA3, which I plan to take first semester of third year. So does that mean I can still register for 2EE3 in second semester of third year? Or do I have to wait until fourth year, when I actually have the 2OA3 credits?

And on that note, do you know if 2EE3 is first or second semester?

Sadly not. But you can take Biochem 2EE3 and 3G03 which are like 2B03 and 2BB3 and anti-requisites of the latter two.

Yep, that's exactly what I did this past year (but in 2nd not 3rd yr). Also, 2EE3 was offered in 2nd term last year as well as this upcoming year.

You can't, he was referring to Chem 2OA3 (the first half) . 2OB3 isn't a pre-req for Biochem 2EE3.

Yes, 3g03 is pretty easy too.
2ee3 and 3g03 are the easy equivalents of 2b03 and 2bb3

Haven't taken it yet. I'm registered for it this upcoming fall term. However, I heard it's not too bad and apparently the final is "optional" i.e. there's one of 2 marking schemes, so you're not required to write the final if you've written all 5 tests/midterms.

Oh so they just make each midterm worth more? Do you know if there are any big projects or whatnot?

My friends took it and said there weren't any. You can always look up course review on macinsiders. There are also course outlines posted for most courses on MI.

Nope, just midterms and a final or only midterms. Here's the course outline if you want a little more info: http://www.scribd.com/doc/46771731/3G03-Outline-2010-v2
Also, check out the course review in the 3rd yr folder, I thought it was pretty helpful.

So I read the course review for 2EE3 on MI and the general consensus is that the course requires intense amounts of memorization.

I'm not really a big fan of memorizing facts and regurgitating them for midterms/exams, I'd much rather a course where I can understand concepts...so would 2EE3 still be an easy course for me?
